On the International Womens' Day, the global one-day Women in Data Science Zagreb (WiDS 2018) Conference was held for the first time. The aim of the Conference is to broaden the knowledge on newest researches and technologies in data science and to present how a variety of leading companies apply data science for their success.
The global WiDS Conference was first organised in 2015 by the Stanford Institute for Computational and Mathematical Engineering. This year it was held in more than 50 countries and 125 cities.

The conference objective is to educate and inspire scientists woldwide, reagrdless of their gender, but with women as speakers the conference aims to attract and support women in data science.
At the WiDS 2018 Conference in Zagreb, three lady members from the Centre of Research Excellence for Data Science and Advanced Cooperative Systems participated. Prof. dr. sc. Mirta Baranović took part in the panel discussion „Education on Data Science“, Prof. dr. sc. Bojana Dalbelo Bašić was the keynote speaker with the subject "Data Science – Sources, Challenges and Inspirations", and Assist. Prof. dr. sc. Mihaela Vranić spoke on “Analysis of Social Media through Practical Examples“.
The very well-attended WiDS Conference in Zagreb was organised by the WiDS Ambassador for Croatia, Ms, Andrea Knez Karačić, with the main support from the company Rimac Automobili.
